The No. 2 seeded Ohio State Buckeyes survived a major upset scare from the tenth-seeded Iowa State Cyclones. The Buckeyes blew a 13-point lead in the second half but finished on top 78-75 thanks to a gutsy shot by guard Aaron Craft.

After a rough stretch in the second half, Ohio State's Craft clutched up and sank one of the biggest shots of his college career. With 29 seconds left and the score tied at 75 apiece, Craft held the ball for the final shot, and waved off teammate and the game-high scorer DeShaun Thomas as time wound down. With just over three ticks remaining Craft began to drive toward the hoop, but suddenly pulled up and fired a 3-pointer that ripped through the net with a mere 0.5 seconds left.

Iowa State and Ohio State duked it out for the entire first half, with the Buckeyes entering the locker room up by just two points. The Buckeyes appeared to have taken control of the game in the second half though, and held a 69-56 lead with under six minutes to go.

Craft had a brutal three minutes that, combined with hot shooting from beyond the arc by the Cyclones, allowed them to get back in the game. From the 4:55 mark to the 1:15 mark, Craft's struggles included three missed free throws, a turnover, and a foul. Two of Craft's missed free throws were the front end of one-in-ones. During that span Iowa State transformed that 13-point deficit into a two-point lead.

The Buckeyes toughened up, though, and Craft came throw down the stretch to keep Ohio State's season alive. He finished the game with 18 points and six assists. Thomas led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting despite battling leg cramps in the second half.

Iowa State was carried by the backcourt duo of Korie Luscious and Will Clyburn who had 19 and 17 points respectively. The Cyclones shot 48 percent from behind the 3-point line in the loss.
