The AL champion Detroit Tigers will kick off their 2013 season against the Minnesota Twins in a late Monday afternoon game at Target Field.

The Tigers will open their current campaign backed by ace Justin Verlander in which temperatures are forecasted to be in the low 30s. To top it off, the wind chill could very well lower that temperature to 20 degrees.

"It's going to be cold but I've pitched in that weather before. I don't think about it. It's always cold in Detroit on opening day," Verlander told ESPN.

Twins second baseman Brian Dozer did acknowledge that playing in the frigid temperatures isn't ideal, but thinks that the respective scenario pales in comparison to the excitement of taking the field on opening day.

"No one likes to play in the cold. But at the same time, we're going to be playing opening day in a Major League Baseball game. Isn't that enough?"
