'Battlefield 5' Release: DICE Unveils Official Teaser, WWI Setting Confirmed? [VIDEO]
DICE's highly anticipated shooter, Battlefield 5, is set to be officially unveiled on Friday. With the gaming world on the edge of its seat, fans of the extremely successful franchise got even more hyped after DICE released a few seconds of what the developer described as Game Engine Footage.
The tiny teaser was posted on the franchise's official Twitter page. Unsurprisingly, the post immediately garnered a lot of attention.
Indeed, looking at the short footage, it does seem like DICE has outdone itself yet again. In the little amount of time shown in the video, one could immediately notice the amount of intricate detail into the scene.
Perhaps most interesting, however, is the content of the short clip itself. Featuring a close-up of a soldier who is seemingly reacting in awe to something before him, fans of the franchise were quick to point out that the soldier's outfit seemed to confirm that the upcoming Battlefield title would be set in World War I.
Though the outfit of the soldier could not be seen in its entirety, the color of the character's collar suggests that he is wearing classic fatigues, just like those commonly worn by soldiers during the First and Second World War.
Apart from the soldier, the shadow that the character was reacting to appeared to be angular, similar to military vehicles utilized by the warring countries during WWI and WWII. Some fans are speculating that the object might be a German A7V Tank, which is very angular and massive.
Other fans, however, are alleging that the object the soldier was reacting to was something alien, especially since the soldier was reacting with awe in the short clip.
Of course, these are all but speculations at this point. In a few hours, DICE would be unveiling Battlefield 5 to the world. As fans of the popular shooter, gamers could only wait and hope that the developer addresses all the questions and rumors that have emerged about the upcoming title during the past few months.
