Telsa Motors CEO Elon Musk responded to comments politician Sarah Palin made on Facebook on April 5 against his electric car company, which she called a "loser."

The electric car company Fisker Automotive received nearly $200 million in taxpayer money from the Department of Energy but recently laid off three-fourths of its U.S. workers. Palin criticized Fisker and other electric carmakers on social media, saying the following:

"This losing tax-subsidized venture joins other past losers like the Obama-subsidized Volt that gets 40 miles per battery charge, or like the Obama-subsidized Tesla that turns into a "brick" when the battery completely discharges and then costs $40,000 to repair."

"As we've seen time and time again, We the People are always stuck subsidizing the left's 'losers,' " she added.

Musk took to Twitter on Monday to response with sarcasm to Palin's claims.

"Sarah Palin calls Tesla a loser. Am deeply wounded," he tweeted. "Btw, Model S warranty does cover 'bricking.' "

Musk had to defend his company about "loser" comments as in the past as well, according to Business Insider. When the Telsa Model S was named Motor Trend's Car of the Year in November 2012, he referenced Mitt Romney's comment of the government's investment in Telsa as a "loser." Musk said Romney "was right about the object of that statement, but not the subject."

In her Facebook rant, Palin also attacked the Obama administration's "crony capitalism as their green energy buddies benefit from this atrocious waste of taxpayer money." She said the only solution is to elect "only those who understand" and allow America's martketplace to fend for itself and dictate its own economic success. She said the alternative is continuing to allow politicians to "close free enterprises' winners and losers."
