Kate Middleton Baby Bump Photos; Baby Names Elizabeth and Diana Bet on By Bookies
Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton's baby bump continues to grow at a rapid pace as she approaches her confirmed due date in mid-July.
Cameras have been focusing more and more specifically at Middleton's mid-section, noting how her expecting belly changes over the months since St. James' Palace announced news of the pregnancy back in December of 2012.
The royal is expecting her first child with husband Prince William this summer, following their lavish and televised wedding in April of 2011. It has not been publicly revealed what the gender of the child is, but reports indicated that the expecting mom may have hinted that she is having a girl.
When a local handed her a white teddy bear earlier in the year, she said, "Thank you, I'll take that for my d-" before she broke off her comments.
Middleton, 31, revealed in March that though she would prefer her firstborn to be a boy, her husband would want a girl first. The couple still has time before their child is born this summer but she admitted that a few names of the baby have already been considered.
"We have a short list for both [boy and girl] but it's very difficult," she confessed, adding that she has been getting suggestions from others as well. She said, "My friends keep texting me names."
Mirror noted that bookies have slashed the odds of the royal child to be named Alexandra. Coral cut the odds on Alexandra from 25-1 to 12-1, and Elizabeth is currently the favorite among those betting with odds of 5-1. Diana is a close second at 6-1 and Victoria is third at 7-1.
The names have all royal connections. Princess Alexandra, 76, is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria's son Edward V11 and his wife Alexandra was crowned in 1902.
Diana is the name of Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana, who died when he was a child.
