MIT Shooting: Gunshots Fired Near Building 32 - BREAKING NEWS!
BREAKING NEWS:
A shooting has reportedly taken place at the MIT campus at 10:48 PM Thursday night. Shots were reportedly fired on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The campus has alerted the campus community with the following message:
At 10:48 PM today gunshots were reported near Building 32 (Stata) which is currently surrounded by responding agencies. The area is cordoned off. Please stay clear of area until further notice. Unknown if injuries have occurred.. Although the situation is considered active and extremely dangerous, an investigation is underway. Updates will be provided at this site when more information becomes available.
CNN is reporting that an MIT police officer has been shot. The officer is currently in hospital and his condition is not known as of yet.
A police dog has been brought in by state police but there doesn't seem to be any kind of bomb sniffing at the moment. Federal authorities are currently at the scene, according to the report.
The shooting in MIT comes less than a week after the Boston Marathon bombings.
