The next generation of gaming consoles are coming, with Sony confirming the existence of the PlayStation 4 Neo and Microsoft officially announcing the Xbox Scorpio. Both consoles are said to pack a lot of power, with enough hardware and capabilities to support virtual reality gaming. With regards to this coming generation, a prominent CEO in the gaming industry has weighed in on the upcoming consoles and the future of games.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, which publishes the extremely popular Grand Theft Auto and the Red Dead franchise, has expressed his optimism about the new consoles that are set to come out in the near future.

"I think new hardware developments that give us more powerful platforms to work on but are still compatible with the current generation is great news. We're still pushing the envelope on current-gen consoles, so it's not like we're screaming for more power," he said.

In a lot of ways, the CEO has a very valid point. After all, Take-Two's games, such as the latest title in its Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA V, practically pushed the current generation's gaming consoles to their utmost power. Thus, more powerful consoles in the market would practically translate to more freedom for developers to make games that are far more expansive than ever before.

Despite his optimism about the PS4 Neo and the Xbox Scorpio, however, Zelnick has also admitted that he believes hardware advancement would be slowing down within the next few years.

"We will get to the point where hardware becomes a backdrop. And sure, constantly more powerful hardware gives us an opportunity but it would be great to get to a place where we don't have a sine curve anymore, and I do see that curve flattening but I'm not sure I agree it's going away yet," he stated.

Regardless of how the next console generation pans out, however, one thing is sure. Take-Two's games would surely be considered as one of the best titles that would be released for the new, more powerful consoles.
