Lady Gaga News 2016: Psychologist Reveals Why You Should Have 'Applause' Singer's Attitude Towards Life [VIDEO]
One of the most well known psychologists in the country recommends Lady Gaga's recent attitude for your own life.
Gaga just received her driver's license at the age of 30, posting frequently about her excitement on Instagram. The pop superstar may be 10 years past the average age that most people get their license, but one psychologist is expressing her approval over Gaga's attitude.
Dr. Nancy Berk, psychologist and host of the Whine at 9 podcast, wrote a column for Parade that praised Gaga for taking a big step even if it differed from the norm.
"Grab some Lady Gaga attitude and tackle one of those things you've been meaning to do," Dr. Berk recommends in the piece. "Walking into the classroom of twenty-somethings may make you the oldest person in the room, but you could also be the wisest. Donning braces might make you feel like a middle school kid, but your compliance levels will likely outshine those of the youngsters. Like Gaga, find humor in the glaring age issue and satisfaction in gaining knowledge, skills, and positive closure."
She noted that even if the average age to perform a certain task may have passed for you, you shouldn't be afraid to go for it anyway.
"Social comparison can often lead people to dismiss their desires, projects and goals when their age seems to veer from the norm. But deferring a personal deadline because you have passed the mean age doesn't mean that you can't successfully revisit the task at hand," Dr. Berk notes.
Gaga has had a very busy year thus far. In addition to receiving her driver's license, she was nominated for and performed at the Oscars, performed a David Bowie tribute at the Grammys, sang "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, won a Golden Globe for acting in American Horror Story: Hotel and is currently filming the next season of AHS in addition to working on her new pop album.
Even if you can't quite do all these career-defining things in one year, you can still focus on doing that one thing you've always wanted to do.
"Learning and task closure can offer a positive jolt to your self-esteem. And that's worth celebrating at any age," Dr. Berk writes.
