53 king cobras were found in a car this weekend in Hanoi, Vietnam. The king cobras have been confiscated by officials and the owner of the reptiles were taken into custody, according to officer Dang Van Hahn of the police force in Vietnam.

According to Christian Post, the snakes will receive treatment to make sure they are in good health and will be released back into the wild afterwards.

Hunting and trading king cobras is illegal in Vietnam and the people of Vietnam are known to eat its meat, which is considered a delicacy.
The extremely dangerous and venomous cobras can grow up to 18 feet long and is also used in some traditional medicines in Asia.

The man in question alleges that he had no plans to trade or sell the cobras but that he was simply transporting them in his car.

According to local media, the man said he was paid $50 to do so.

The snakes were reportedly kept in green sacks before they were found Friday.

King cobras are the longest venomous snakes in the world. It preys on other snakes and is found in forests in India to Southeast Asia.

The skin of the snakes is olive-green, tan or black.
