A man in India was arrested for allegedly trying to sell his three-day-old newborn grandson on Facebook, according to reports.

Feroz Khan, 47, made arrangements with a local businessmnan, a hospital nurse and her accomplice to kidnap the baby after he was born on April 8. The baby's mother, Noora was discharged from the hospital the following day.

The Daily Mail reported that on April 10 the nurse named as Sunita, and a fellow hospital employee named as Gurpreet Singh, took the baby away claiming he was sick. The next day, the hospital workers told Noora that her child has passed away. Singh was said to have shown a picture of the baby on Facebook before the deal was made.

Noora became suspicious about her baby's death when people reportedly came to her home and paid her father $830. She started to inquire about where her father's sudden wealth came about.

Noora then reported her missing baby to police.

Authorities then got involved and rescued the baby at Ranjit Nagar's home on Tuesday, the a man who purchased the baby on Facebook, according to the Hindustan Times. The baby was ill and undergoing treatment at Sir Gangaram Hospital.

During an interrogation, Khan revealed the entire plot.

"All three people who conspired to sell the child have been arrested and we will be interrogating the businessman who paid the money to buy the baby," said Satish Malhotra, a police officer Ludhiana, northern India.

Khan reportedly told interrogators that he wanted to arrange a second marriage for his daughter after her husband left her. Noora and her ex-husband split back in February.

"So he thought he should get rid off the child of her daughter from her first husband by selling him off," police said in a statement.
