Amanda Knox Letter to Kercher Family: Hopes To Convince Them She Was Not Involved In Meredith Kercher's 2007 Murder
In her new book Waiting to Be Heard, Amanda Knox reveals a letter she wrote to the family of Meredith Kercher, the girl she was accused of murdering back in 2007.
“I’m sorry for your loss… I’m not the one who killed your daughter and sister," Knox wrote to Kercher‘s family, according to an excerpt in the Sunday People.
“I think about her every day. In the relatively brief time that Meredith was part of my life she was always kind to me. I can only attempt to imagine the extent of your grief,” she added.
The formerly-accused convict never mailed the letter, as advised by her attorney, but she is hoping that Kercher’s family will read the book and believe she was not involved in the murder of their daughter, according to Radar Online.
Kercher and Knox were living together as exchange students in Peruga Italy- Kercher from the U.K., and Knox from the Seattle area, when Kercher was found dead in Nov 2007.
Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of the crime amidst an alleged sexual scandal two years later. When that conviction was overturned in 2011, Knox returned to the U.S.
Earlier this year, an Italian court ruled that there can be a retrial.
