Jessica Heeringa: Sketch of Man Suspected of Kidnapping Cashier from Gas Station Released [PHOTO, VIDEO]
A rough sketch of a man suspected of kidnapping a gas station cashier in Michigan has been released.
25-year-old Jessica Heeringa was kidnapped from an Exxon gas station on Friday when she was working alone at about 11 p.m.
A sketch of the suspect has been released, along with a description that reads: a white male, about 6 feet tall, between 30 and 40 years old, with wavy hair parted in the middle.
Police are also looking for a silver minivan that was seen at the gas station moments before the abduction. A witness gave the description of the man who was sitting in the silver vehicle.
The silver minivan, which could possibly be a Chrysler Town and Country, was caught for a few seconds on a nearby CCTV camera. However, not much detail can be seen as the video is blurry.
"I wish I had the technology like you see on TV where you could blow it up and I could see the driver inside. But that doesn't exist for me," Shaw said to WOOD-TV. "But it is something. It does give us some hope that we've got some accurate information out there to work with."
Heeringa was abducted just half an hour before she was scheduled to close the gas station - at 11.30 p.m. However, news of the abduction only surfaced after police received a call at 11:15 p.m. saying that the station was unmanned.
The caller called 911 and said: "It's very suspicious why there's nobody here."
Police believe Heeringa was abducted after no signs of robbery were found.
"Her purse and other belongings were undisturbed. In addition, the store's cash drawer was found out and no money was missing," police said in a statement.
Heeringa is 5 feet 1 inches and has blond hair, blue eyes and glasses. She weighs about 110 pounds.
Her mother Shelly told CNN that she believes someone who knew her daughter took her.
"I think whoever did this had been in the gas station before and maybe Jessie knew him," Shelly Heeringa said. "He probably lured her out by saying he needed help," she said. "Jessie would have helped anybody. And that was probably her downfall."
The investigation has not progressed far as no CCTV was installed at the gas station.
