Jury deliberations will begin today for Jodi Arias, who has been on trial since Jan. 4 for murdering her ex-lover, Travis Alexander.

Arias, 32, was charged for the 2008 murder of the 30-year-old Mormon motivational speaker. She stabbed her victim over 27 times, slit his throat from ear to ear and shot him in the head. His body was discovered the day he was killed: June 4, 2008

According to police, Arias lied twice at first about how Alexander was killed and later admitted that she killed him in an act of self-defense. If she is convicted of the murder and the lies that she confessed to, she will likely face the death penalty and become the fourth woman in Arizona's history to die by lethal injection.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez presented another closing argument on Friday after the defense presented their final statements for the last time earlier that day. In his rebuttal argument to the defense closing statements Martinez asked, "Why would deadly physical force be necessary after she stabbed him in the heart?"

"Because her intention was to kill, not to defend herself," he added.

Martinez' rebuttal followed a statement from Arias' attorney Kirk Nurmi, who said his client committed the heinous crime in self-defense early Friday.

Nurmi said of Arias' relationship with Alexander that she "was great to have around for Mr. Alexander for the sexual purposes, but she wasn't acceptable to his friends, and she might not have been acceptable to his church."

HLNTV learned who the 15 jurors are that will decide Arias' fate - if she will be charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder or manslaughter. Twelve of the final 15 jurors were chosen Friday evening, three of the jurors are alternates. The group consists of eight men and four women.

Three jurors were removed in the last month: juror No. 8, No. 11 and No. 5. Enstars reported that juror No. 8 is 52 year-old Daniel Gibb, who lives in the Gilbert area in Arizona. Juror no. 11 was removed due to an illness, and Nurmi filed a request for a mistrial and the removal of juror No. 5 because she said prejudiced statements in front of a fellow juror. Meliha Omanovic, 38 - also known as juror No. 5 - is a north Phoenix resident. She was booted from court on April 2.
