'Pokemon Go' Updates: Is Niantic's New Capture Feature Useless? [VIDEO]
Niantic recently launched its latest update for Pokemon GO, which introduced the new capture location feature. Niantic has seemingly decided to forego the sightings feature for Pokemon GO for the new capture location feature, which basically just informs the trainer where a Pokemon has been captured.
This has caused a number of avid Pokemon GO players to be quite disappointed with the most recent update to the game. According to Phone Arena, the capture location feature, which debuted in version 0.39.0 for Android and 1.9.0 for iOS, simply gave players the capability to access in-game data. Thus, for casual players of the game, the new capture location feature is almost useless.
In Niantic's official announcement for the recent Pokemon GO update, the developer stated that three primary changes have been implemented in the game. The first addition to the game is called capture location, which states where a specific Pokemon was caught. This information could be accessed by simply tapping on the monster's information screen.
While the usual bug fixes were also highlighted by the developer in its announcement for the most recent Pokemon GO, Niantic has also rolled out a new feature that effectively incentivizes the use of the Pokemon GO Plus accessory. According to the International Business Times, the new update gives Pokemon GO Plus users the ability to capture Pokemon by using Incense directly from the wearable device.
Save for the use of the Pokemon GO Plus accessory and Incense, numerous avid fans of the highly popular augmented reality game were quite disappointed with the latest features that the developer rolled out in the game. After all, instead of releasing a statistic-related feature, Niantic could have easily invested its resources in creating an effective, official tracking system.
Pokemon GO trackers have long been a volatile issue in the game, with Niantic seemingly refusing to release any official tracking feature in the game, while remaining steadfast in its drive to eliminate all third-party Pokemon trackers that have emerged in the market.
