CNN anchor was robbed in Atlanta on Thursday.

The crime involved a group of teenagers stealing Carol Costello's iPhone.

According to the Associated Press, Costello was using her phone when two assailants came from behind and took it around 4:30 p.m.

Costello gave an account of the event on her Facebook page.

"I was walking down a beautiful, leafy Atlanta street, talking on my IPhone," the anchor recounted. "Three teenagers ran up behind me. One of them grabbed my IPhone. Stupidly I struggled to hold on-to it. But, he was a big guy. And he pulled out a chunk my hair. I let go."

The thieves then ran off laughing.

"I felt no fear at the time, I was just angry," Costello continued. "Now I'm angry, shaken and sad. What a lousy life those kids have ahead of them."

Costello dug into the prominence of these instances and states the ABC reports a rise in "apple picking," or the theft of Apple products.

"They were all targeting people in fast food restaurants, coffee shops, people walking on street," said Bill Cassell of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept after the department stopped two rings of cell phone thieves last September, according to ABC. "The victims all had a similar profile too. They were all focused on their cells phones, inattentive of their surroundings and looked like they wouldn't put up a fight."

While Costello fir the profile, she did make the dangerous decision to put up a fight. However, she still lost her phone in the process.

"Let go of the stupid device if someone tries to steal it," Costello urged her followers.
