"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will be the show's final season and fans are wondering what's in store for them. Another big question is if Elena (Nina Dobrev) will return in the last season.
According to International Business Times, executive producer Julie Plec teased some details on Season 8. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Plec revealed that Stefan (Paul Wesley) will be worried about Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) future with Elena. In the new season, Damon will be possessed by something evil and Stefan will try to save his brother from it.
In Season 7 finale, fans saw Damon as he was taken over by an evil entity which he found in the Armory's vault. It is yet to be revealed what this evil creature really wants but it seems that it involved Damon and his friend Enzo (Michael Malarkey) killing a lot of people. Plec also revealed that a new villain will be coming to Season 8 that will target not only the Salvatore brothers but also Sarah Salvatore (Tristin Mays).
Plec explained that Damon is not in control of his actions and Stefan will do everything he can to rescue his brother from this. She added that Damon's actions will impact his chances of reuniting with Elena in the future.
As for Elena's return to the show, Inquisitr reported that The CW President Mark Pedowitz revealed that they are currently working on Dobrev's return to the show. Rumors were spreading that Dobrev will be replaced by actress Kirsten Stewart. However, there is still no official statement from the management and Dobrev on her return to the show.
It can be remembered that Dobrev made a promise that she would making a comeback before the last episode of the show airs. Plec also said that she is doing everything she can to make sure that Elena returns to the story.
Fans would have to wait a little longer as "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will premiere on Oct. 21 on The CW.
