Global warming and climate change has been subject to debate for the past decades. However, it cannot be denied that the Earth's temperature continue to rise in significant levels.

The Guardian reported that Earth's current temperature was recorded as the hottest in the last 115,000 years. Experts claim that this is because of climate change. Sea levels were 6-9 meters higher during the interglacial era compared to today.

In a paper that was submitted by James Hansen who is a former senior Nasa climate scientist, he said that the temperature this year is 1.25 degC above the temperature of the planet during pre-industrial era. The world is heating up at a rate of 0.18C per decade over the past four decades.

In order to mitigate the effects and to reduce the increase of the planet's temperature, "massive CO2 extraction" should be done. However, this process can cost trillions of dollars which can affect many economies in the world.

Because of the possible destruction of the planet, many scientists are now in the verge of looking for information which can prove that life can exist in Mars. However, there are also astronauts who are looking for another habitable planet in the nearest galaxy.

Wired reported that a new generation of astronauts are now looking for the new Earth. A month ago, these astronomers were able to find a new planet which is orbiting in a habitable zone. This means that the planet is orbiting the nearest star to Earth. Astronomers are now expecting to send a space probe to study the planet in the near future.

The planet called Planet Proxima b has a similar mass with Earth's. This means that it is more likely that the planet is livable. Astronomers are currently using the instrument called EXPRES which could help them located other planets which has similar mass with Earth.
