A vast advancement in voice-based computing and an increasing growth of speech recognition system are much evident in today's technology. But still, there are numbers of keyboard-based apps which require only text entry instead of speech. Baidu Research, a division of Chinese web search company Baidu, is perhaps attempting to change this concept forever with their mesmerizing voice-recognizing third party app for Android named 'TalkType' which professes voice input over typing.

The app primarily made its debut in the Google Play Store a few months before in the United States. Since its advent, developers behind this tremendous app has included some of the most useful features like support for swiping on the keyboard, the ability to send animated GIFs from Giphy, ability to scan through voice quality. In addition, the app's virtual microphone also stays on and records voices for a longer period of time before automatically shutting off

While search engines like Google have already optimized the microphone attribution in an effort to increase the use of voice recognition technology in case of search and navigation to ease up troubles, a voice convertible typing app, which can efficiently buckle up a huge load of typing tasks, was also needed. TalkType is certainly the authentic answer for all these troubles.

TalkType is unique because it places a large microphone front-and-center in the application. It is also claimed to generate results which are more efficient as well as accurate than actual typing. According to a report by VirtualBeat , the app can even recognize and transcribe voice much better than the diction systems made by Apple and Google.

While giving his speech at the launch event of this app, Bijit Halder, project leader in Baidu Research's Silicon Valley AI Lab, claimed: "TalkType is the first full-function smartphone keyboard that is 'voice first,' not 'voice also,'" unlike other conventional smartphone keyboard designs, where voice is targeted for occasional use and delegated to a small mic icon, TalkType is designed to make voice the primary source of communication: he added.

According to a report by TechCrunch, With normal speech transformed into typing, punctuation like "comma," "period," "question mark," and "exclamation point" etc. can also be added by just giving a voice command to this app.Besides all these, it also offers word suggestions to select from a wide range of words collection to add up in sentences, which can be done by moving either one or two fingers across the app's trackpad.

With all the enormous features mentioned above, Baidu's TalkType app surely stands as a masterpiece of evolving technology. The app will definitely ease up the challenging task of typing on a small screen. With the huge success of this incredible app on Android platform, potential sources suggest that Baidu is also planning to launch a similar instance for iOS too.
