New information surfaced regarding the three women who were found after being held hostage in the Cleveland home for almost 10 years, and the details leave many wondering why they weren’t rescued sooner.

Neighbors witnessed Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight outside of Ariel Castro’s home being controlled by three men as they were naked and forced to crawl on their hands and knees, according to Radar Online.

Israel Lugo, who lives two houses away from Castro, said he called police three times in 2011 and 2012 after he saw the naked women, but said they didn’t do anything. When they did respond to his November 2011 call, police came to the house and pounded on the door, but left when they heard no response, according to USA Today.

Women who lived in a nearby apartment also claimed they called police after they saw three young girls crawling on all fours naked with dog leashes around their necks.

“Three men were controlling them in the backyard. The women told Lugo they waited two hours but police never responded to the calls,” the report stated.

The daughter of neighbor Elsie Cintron also saw a naked woman crawling on her hands and knees but when her daughter alerted police, Cintron said they didn’t take it seriously.

Although police acknowledged Tuesday that they went to Castro’s house twice in the past after a complaint about his job as bus driver, they denied on Wednesday that there were other calls. Several media sources reported that Berry, Knight and DeJesus were held in chains inside the home, with chains found hanging from a ceiling.

“I thought something was wrong because I got bad vibes from him,” Lugo, 39, told the publication, referring to Castro. “I didn’t want to accuse someone falsely.”
