‘Running Man’ co-host Gary decides to leave show for good, won’t change decision
"Running Man" fans will see Kang Hee Gun also known as Gary in his final episode on Monday, as the singer has decided to leave the show for good. The news that was announced last Oct. 25 has saddened many fans.
According to iTech Post, the SBS variety show said in a statement that they sincerely are grateful for everything Gary has done for the show for the past six years. Gary is one of the original members of "Running Man." The show revealed that Gary decided to leave the show in order to focus on his career as a musician.
Gary rose to fame after joining the show in July 2010. With Song Ji Hyo, the duo was called as the "Monday Couple" and both earned popularity among its viewers.
Gary is also known as the "Dark Horse" and "Random Mr. Capable" since he is able to win against the other members of the show in very random cases despite being at a serious disadvantage. He is also the record holder for winning the most expensive price in the show's history. He won an all-expense paid trip to Europe.
Many fans believe that the show will never be the same without him. Many fans even posted messages on social media to express their disappointment and asked Gary to reconsider his decision.
According to Australia Network News, the show's staff and cast members tried talking Gary into changing his mind. Despite that it seems like his decision is already final and he will never change his mind.
Gary first joined the industry as a member of the hip-hop duo Leessang which was formed in 2002. The duo has already released eight albums which included hit tracks like "Hexagonal," "Asura Balbat" and "Unplugged." Gary was also able to release a solo album in 2004 which ranked number one in eight music charts.
Gary's final appearance on "Running Man" will air on Oct. 31.
