Chris Brown's monster art has turned off his neighbors in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times reported on May 10 that many of Brown's neighbors are upset with what he considers art. The pop star has massive paintings of monsters in neon colors and whose eyes pop out. His neighbors are alleging that not only does Brown's interpretation of art ruin the décor of the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, but that the children in the area are now scared.

"There are lots of babies, lots of children, and they're literally frightened. It's like devils on the wall," Patti Negri said.

Negri is the president of the Hollywood Dell Civic Association. She said she had no issue with having celebrities as neighbors, but took exception to Brown disrupting the quiet of the residence. She said that the community was already at their wit's end over the loud parties that Brown throws and driving his cars at fast speeds. Brown's artwork is just the latest aggravation between the two sides.

"Chris himself did not warm himself to the neighborhood when he first got here, so this is kind of the straw that broke the camel's back," Negri said.

Councilman Tom LaBonge said that Brown's artwork was hard to miss and therefore a disturbance. It is the reason why so many have taken their worries to the proper authorities.

Brown's neighbors filed numerous complaints, which led to L.A. city code officials citing Brown for unpermitted and excessive signage. He was ordered to remove the art within 30 days. He also faces fines that start at $376 but that figure could rise if he does heed to the orders. According to Brown's lawyer, the singer has no intention of removing the offensive monster art.

Mark Geragos said that Brown's neighbors have made a target out of him. Geragos said that his client was the one being intimidated, and he called those who have lodged concerns "neighborhood busybodies" who needed to be ashamed. The lawyer said he was afraid of them of such neighborhood busybodies.

"They've called animal control. They have sicced parking [enforcement] on him, and now they reached the heights of ridiculousness here," Geragos said.
