'Sleepy Hollow' Trailer VIDEO; Fox Releases New Sci-fi Series Trailer
Fox's new fall line up will include a reimagining of the classic tale of Sleepy Hallow. However, the series looks to be going the way of National Treasure or The Da Vinci Code, mixing history with religion, this isn't your childhood ghost story.
Based on the Washington Irving tale, Sleepy Hallow comes form the minds of sci-fi writing veterans Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (both with backgrounds in Fringe and the latest Star Trek). Staring Tom Mison (Salmon Fishing In The Yemen) as the reawakened Ichabod Crane, the series looks to be one part procedural, one part sci-fi, and one part revolutionary war.
The three-minute trailer released by Fox begins with a confused and displaced Crane waking up in the midst of the 21st century claiming to have a mission from George Washington. The long-dead founding father had entrusted him to kill a man, which he did via a battlefield beheading.
However, despite having his body entombed under the Hudson, the Headless Horseman (Richard Cetrone) is back and is apparently Death, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse.
While the Horseman seems to be on a killing spree in Sleepy Hallow, Crane teams up with a slightly disbelieving police officer (Nicole Beharie) to sort out the Horseman, some feuding covens, a mysterious woman who appears in his dreams, and seek out answers in George Washington's musty old Bible.
Here's hoping the series is as good as the trailer. Sleepy Hollow will air Mondays at 9 p.m.
