"Van Helsing," the fierce vampire hunter and originally starred Hugh Jackman, is being remade into another movie. The upcoming film will have a modern setting and will deal with dark evil creatures that roam the earth.

Universal is producing a reboot of the 2004 "Van Helsing" film which starred Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. However, in this remake, the vampire hunter will not be in 19th century Transylvania but in the 21st century.

The fantasy film is still in its early stages of production. On the other hand, according to Movie News Guide, Universal revealed that Jon Spaihts is creating the story for the retelling of Helsing's character. Spaihts is famous for writing the screenplay of the new Marvel film "Doctor Strange." The screenwriter also wrote "Prometheus."

Spaihts revealed some aspects of the new "Van Helsing" story. The American screenwriter mentioned that the remake will be a "romantic departure" from the original material. He also relayed that the action-adventure film will be "filled with good stuff."

The "Doctor Strange" writer reiterated that the reboot is set in present times and described the character of Helsing briefly. Spaihts pointed out that the vampire hunter will have the information on all the creatures of the night. What does this quality entail?

Since the setting is the present, Van Helsing may have some technological system that stores data on all the monsters that roam the streets. Just like Iron Man, the undead hunter may use this technology to analyze the villains as he tries to catch them.

Apart from Spaihts, Eric Heisserer is also on board to co-write the screenplay for "Van Helsing." Heiserrer wrote the 2016 horror movie, "Lights Out." With two notable screenwriters involved in the film, fans are expecting great things about this remake.
