Comcast ready to telecast Netflix on Cable TV from next week
The year 2016 till now has been a year to be regarded as one of the best periods for entertainment lovers. There has been a number of events for which it can be marked as a moment revival with the ingredients of new age shows and TV serials. Perhaps another thing that can be considered as a superlative addition to this excitement recently came as a new announcement.
The year has made the viewers stun with many new shows coming alongside a number of revisits of many best-loved ones which have been well known for their star cast, story plot and excellent execution of episodes. Besides these, announcements of upcoming shows and events, many of them with a nostalgic touch have already made the viewers to wait for them with extreme eagerness. Now another spoon of species that can be added to this entertainment line-up is the forthcoming availability of Netflix on cable TV with the support of Comcast's Xfinity X1 set-top boxes from the next week.
According to Chicago Tribune, Comcast subscribers who use the company's Xfinity X1 set-top box will be able to tune into Netflix just like any ordinary cable channel, without any other outsource. Comcast and Netflix, both confirmed the launch timing on this Friday. This amalgamation of both the entities will allow cable viewers to browse and enjoy shows like "Orange Is the New Black", "The Walking Dead", and many more straight from their Comcast X1 set-top boxes.
However, it may prove to be a profitable deal for both the brands and is also expected to bring about 5 million more consumers to Comcast. But its 22.4 million existing TV subscribers, the pact will primarily be fruitful approximately the half of that whole, who currently use the X1 platform.
According to Fox 8, both the company previously announced an agreement to bring Netflix on cable TV network in July this year. But it took long to implement this resolution in reality. Finally, viewers will be able to tune to the past episode of all their favorite reality seasons alongside the new flicks with the help of Comcast cable setups only.
This new initiative, however, may create mix reactions among the viewers. But according to experts, as Comcast bridge the gap between Netflix and cable network, may be promoting the fact, that it can turn into an open platform for streaming services without additional regulation. Also, it is not clear yet whether the step was taken by the company intentionally for this reason or not.
