Huawei Nova: Huawei's new mid-ranged smartphone
Huawei launched its mid-ranged smartphones Nova and Nova Plus in September 2016, with both priced at USD 399 and USD 499, respectively. These new smartphones clashes with midrange contenders like Apple iPhone SE, Google Nexus 6P, Huawei Honor 8, One Plus3 and Moto G4 Plus.
It seems that Huawei is challenging well-established smartphone companies by launching a mid-range smartphone line like Nova. According to Forbes, Huawei is "growing up" to become the world's No.1 smartphone brand and according to IBTimes, "Huawei hopes to take a slice of the burgeoning mid-range smartphone market with its Nova range."
The Huawei Nova has curved edges with brushed-hairline finish and metallic rim. This device measures 141.2 × 69.1 × 7.1 mm and weighs approximately 146 g. It's available in Mystic Silver, Prestige Gold, and Titanium Grey colors.
The Nova comes with a 5-inch touchscreen LCD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and 443 ppi. It has a 12-megapixel autofocus primary camera with 1.25 µm larger pixel, 4K video shooting and low light feature, and an 8-megapixel front facing camera.
Huawei Nova runs smooth with a 2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with a powerful 3 GB RAM. It comes with 32 GB internal storage and is expandable up to 128 GB.
This smartphone runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Emotion UI 4.1 and provides high security with a 3D fingerprint. It is powered by lithium polymer 3020 mAh nonremovable battery.
Nova is a single SIM (nano SIM) smartphone with dual antenna. It provides Wi-Fi connectivity up to 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB type C for connectivity. Various sensors like Hall Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Digital Compass, Gravity Sensor and Gyroscope are supported by this smartphone.
One can say that Huawei Nova is highly inspired by Apple. It provides an easy-to-understand user interface design and smooth gaming experience.
The smartphone's 4K video shooting provides for an impressive user experience. The 5" screen display makes it easier to use by one hand. Looking at its rival One Plus 3's features - 2.2 GHz + 1.6 GHz Kryo Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad core processor 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, it's certainly not going to be easy for the Huawei Nova to reach the top of the midrange smartphone market.
