It is another generous and environmental effort from Leonardo Dicaprio as he converts his private island into a luxury resort/hotel, but with a twist of eco-sustainable tools for its building, infrastructures and operation.

Leonardo Dicaprio has been known not just as an Oscar winner, actor but his personal efforts to go the extra mile in terms of caring for the environment and his foundation. The Titanic actor who has delighted viewers worldwide has now been actively participating in charities and saving the earth, all the more making him not only multitalented but also has a good heart.

Bloomberg shares a few details on Leonardo Dicaprio's Blackadore Caye Resort with the finalities already revealed last Friday. The island located west of the Atlantic Ocean within the area of Belize Barrier Reef had been with Dicaprio and investor Keith D. Jackson since the actor discovered it in 2004.

The 104-acre of Leonardo Dicaprio's private paradise will be transformed into a luxury hotel with 36 residential estate homes and 36 bookable bungalows spread throughout the entire island, all of which will use renewable energy.

Beginning next year, construction will roll out as per approval from Belize government authorities upon passing the environmental impact assessment report. TravelPulse has also indicated on their report of a possible project for shoreline rehabilitation as the island have been reported to already have 'weak soil' thus soil erosion and landslides have been noted.

This is perhaps Dicaprio's way of saving the environment as this project consists of mangrove replanting, replacement of invasive species with native species, enhancement of the island's soil and habitat and creating an additional armature for reef and fish breeding.

The environment-friendly resort is targeted to open on 2018, with Lead design architect Jean-Michel Gathy to parallel his work with One&Only and Aman, but now will be using "local materials to support local economy" and rooms with "eco-tech and design features." The facilities sound superb just like the owner of this island.
