TBS and TNT are about to become the first networks to stream all of their content live across multiple platforms.

During the networks' upfront presentation in New York Wednesday morning, Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, described the innovative new system.

Koonin explained: "Starting this summer, subscribers will be able to watch TBS and TNT live - anytime, anywhere, on multiple devices,." according to Deadline.

The streaming system will take place on the networks' websites in addition to specialized apps called "Watch TBS" and "Watch TNT". On this decision, Koonin noted, "Tablets and smartphones become television sets, bringing new opportunities for us and for advertisers."

Subscribers to the cable networks will be able to gain access to this streaming service. It is unknown as of now if non-subscribers will be able to pay for a streaming-only service.

Though the exact launch date is unknown at this time, the networks will be airing much of their original programming during the summer, making it the prime season to begin the online service.

TNT has many returning favorites including Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Major Crimes, Perception and Rizzoli & Isles. They will also be premiering a slew of new shows, including 72 Hours, Cold Justice, The Hero and King & Maxwell. They will continue to cover the NBA's regular season, playoffs, and All-Star weekend.

TBS will be airing the second season of hit-comedy Sullivan & Son as well as new shows Deal With It and Deon Cole's Black Box. Additionally, they will be airing regular season and playoffs for Major League Baseball.

Neither network has had an extensive online streaming platform, so this will be new territory for Turner Entertainment Networks.

For the summer, only iPhone and iPad apps will be created, with additional applications and platforms to be added by the end of 2013.
