Kodi’s Android App Version 17 Update In Jeopardy As Developer Leaves [VIDEO]
People who enjoy watching copyrighted resources for free may not like this. The man behind the popular software Kodi at XMBC has called it quits in order to focus on his personal ventures.
For the uninitiated, the program has been instrumental in allowing unsubscribed individuals to view patent-protected materials. It is astounding to know that this android application has been legally downloaded around five million times.
Sources reveal that a disagreement, as per Android Police between Chris Brownet, who is also known as Koying and his colleagues led to the former's exit. Kodi's sole developer will now be concentrating on his development undertaking at Semper Media Center (SPMC).
Although it hasn't been confirmed, Brownet's argument with other designers may have stemmed out from a platform-specific code. Apparently, Koying's intention to incorporate the encryption into the system has been blocked.
As of late, Brownet has just launched the new 16.1.1 version of the Kodi software. Aside from supporting Windows, OS X, Linux, iOS, Android and Raspberry Pi programs, the system is now able to accommodate Blue-Ray 3D ISO playback and HD Audio pass-through on selected gadgets.
With the enhancement of the android app in peril, it is likely that the progression of Kodi at XMBC will be stopped. Perhaps the biggest challenge to date of the application is the development of version 17 which will sustain the software's functionality and marketability.
Although Kodi continues to be operational, the software still has problems involving video and audio synchronizations. With Brownet doing his thing at SPMC, it is probable that Semper Media will get the codes it needs to improve the app.
As reported by Mobile N Apps, in order for Kodi to thrive, XMBC will need a new developer. Although a replacement is yet to be found, the tech team has already launched the beta form of version 17 for the app called Krypton.
The android application can be downloaded by users and enthusiasts at Google Play Store or at SPMC's domain. Moreover, open source authorization for Kodi can be acquired at Github.
