At CES 2017, Amazon's voice-based virtual assistant Alexa can be seen everywhere from built in to the different gadgets to the different cars. Alexa is now coming to the smartphones also; Huawei on at CES 2017 has launched its Mate 9 flagship in the US, and also mentioned that Alexa will be pre-installed in the smartphone from early 2017.

The Mate 9 will be coming with pre-installed Alexa. It will become available to buy at $599 in the US starting January 6 via Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, and B&H Photo. Flagship device is coming in Space Grey and Moonlight Silver colour options.

"Response to Huawei Mate 9 has been extremely positive, resulting in numerous industry awards and accolades," said Zhendong Zhu, the president of Huawei Device USA.

He further added that, "With Mate 9, we set out to improve every element of the smartphone experience, creating a dynamic and powerful device that takes a big step forward in what consumers expect in a smartphone. We're excited to introduce the Mate 9 flagship device to the U.S. market."

With this move Huawei Mate 9 will become the first smartphone to feature inbuilt Alexa, which will be accessible in the form of a pre-installed app. Those users who will purchase the smartphone before that date will get the app via an OTA update. Nevertheless it is uncertain on if the app will come to all regions where the phone has been launched or not, reports NDTV.

The company has also revealed that they will work with Amazon to develop "rich voice activated consumer experiences". Huawei's EMUI 5.0 customisation is based on Android 7.0 Nougat, which is also claimed to be intelligent.

The Alexa on Huawei Mate 9 will allow you to set of commands like alarm setting, make to-do lists, and pull weather and time, and several other tasks. It also allow some smart home automation control, that will be based on the devices compatible with Alexa.

To give you just quick review, the Huawei Mate 9 was launched in other markets in November. It sport a 5.9-inch full-HD (1080x1920) display, a powerful 4000mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back.

The smartphone is powered with a Kirin 960 processor, and 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of inbuilt storage. The Huawei Mate 9 features a rear dual-camera set with one being a 20-megapixel shooter and the other being a 12-megapixel one. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies.
