Betty White Health: 'Golden Girls' Star Turns 95, Reacts To GoFundMe Campaign To Keep Her Alive [VIDEO]
Betty White turns 95 today, and she is eternally grateful.
After a year of harrowing celebrity deaths (including David Bowie, Prince, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and George Michael), many are feeling thankful that White is still kicking. The indomitable actress is still active in show business after decades of memorable work, including The Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Hot in Cleveland, The Proposal, Boston Legal and Betty White's Off Their Rockers.
Katie Couric interviewed White recently in honor of her 95th birthday, with the actress showing her complete gratitude for having the opportunity to continue working even at her age.
"I just appreciate the fact that people have been so kind to me all these years," White said. "The fact that I'm still working - that's the thing I'm most grateful for-that I still get asked for jobs."
Couric also brought up the GoFundMe campaign started at the end of 2016 to keep White alive. White was clearly astonished by the news, especially when Couric said they had raised over $10,000 (all of which went to the Spartanburg Little Theatre).
"How would they go to perpetuate me by money?" White said, still shocked. "They spoil me rotten, it's really just terrible... And I enjoy every minute of it."
Many Twitter users have been reacting in relief to learn that White was trending because of her birthday, not her death:
