Amanda Bynes was released from police custody on Friday and cannot be held for mental health evaluation against her will, TMZ reported.

The troubled actress was released Friday, May 24 after appearing in a New York court Friday morning, according to Fox 411.Bynes was taken to Roosevelt hospital in Manhattan Thursday night where she underwent a full preliminary psychiatric evaluation, however, professionals found no reason to keep her on a medical hold, according to Fox 411.

While Bynes has apparently not been diagnosed with any mental illness, her parents are concerned she migh be bipolar or schizophrenic, sources told TMZ. Bynes has been unwilling to undergo psychiatric testing.

A judge could halt proceedings and order a psychiatric evaluation if Bynes was not coherent enough to understand the nature of the criminal cases filed against her. However, there was no effort to go this route because Bynes has been lucid in court.

The 27-year-old was arrested Thursday after the building manager at The Biltmore on W. 47th St., Rudy Toro, called the cops after he witnessed Bynes smoking marijuana in the building's lobby, prosecutors said.

She was allegedly seen throwing a bong out of the window of her 36th-floor apartment. Bynes told police who arrived on the scene that "it was just a vase," before she threw it out the window.

The former star of Nickelodeon's All That appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Friday and was charged with reckless endangerment, attempted tampering with evidence and marijuana possession.

The next court date was set for Jul 9 in Manhattan for Bynes.
