Miss France Bags Mis Universe Title After 64 Years, Who Is Iris Mittenaere & What Are Her Advocacies?
It was the most beautiful day in the universe once again as 86 of the most beautiful women all over the world gathered for the annual Miss Universe competition. Held in the Philippines, 86 beautiful and empowered women competed to win the title of Miss Universe 2016. While the judges vocally expressed the difficulty they faced in choosing the winner, they eventually narrowed their choices to one. Miss France, Iris Mittenaere, bagged the Miss Universe 2016 crown.
Who is Iris Mittenaere? According to Mirror, Iris Mittenaere is a 23-year old, dental surgery student. The French beauty was born in the northern part of France, in Lille. According to Bustle, hobbies of Iris Mittenaere include cooking new French dishes, traveling and participating in extreme sports. Aside from that, Miss France seems to have the fire of volunteerism within her as she is reportedly a volunteer and describes herself as funny, fresh and caring.
Speaking of volunteerism, Iris Mittenaere previously shared on the official Miss Universe website that she wants to advocate for dental and oral hygiene if she won. Now that she has bagged the Miss Universe 2016 title, fans and supporters of Miss France are expecting for more and bigger advocacies from the reigning beauty queen.
"I was very surprised I won, I feel blessed," said Mittenaere after the coronation. "I want to help people, I want to understand people, I want to meet people, that's why this is a dream for me," she added.
Miss France, Iris Mittenaere, bested her fellow top 3 Miss Universe contestants, Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier and Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar. The victory of Iris Mittenaere is a big victory for France, who has not won the Miss Universe title since 1953. Miss France, Iris Mittenaere, will fill in the shoes of former Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines.
