Google recently announced that Android 7.1.2 Nougat is already rolling out to their devices. However, it will only available on their smartphones and it will great to know on what the inclusions of the update are.
Google generally announces the Android preview during its Google I/O developer conference, which happen annually in May. In 2016 - for the first time - the developer preview was made available before the time so many could test the Android 7 before launch. Google is now incrementally reiterating the process, with latest version being Android 7.1.2 Nougat, with the wider roll-out of Android 7.1.1 still proceeding.
To recall, back in November consumers were asking why previous Nexus devices did not receive the "Swipe for notifications" gesture. At that time, Google mentioned that they were still "evaluating" the feature. However with the recent updates, the feature has been now arrived on Nexus 5X and it is also expected to come on Nexus 6P soon as well.
The "swipe for notifications" gesture allows user to swipe across the sensor to bring up their app alerts, instead of doing it on the device's screen. For 5X users, you can see this under "Moves" in Settings, apart from 5X, the update has also arrived on Pixel XL and Pixel XL Smartphones. Update 7.1.2 is only available for Google's handsets currently.
According to Express UK, Android 7.1.2 Nougat includes redesigned app shortcuts and better image keyboard support. It has a size of 1.25 GB. Details about the update's arrival on other brands yet are not available. Hopefully, mobile makers will reveal some information soon.
Google made easier for you to try Android 7.1.2 Nougat on device, so it's also offering the Android Beta Program that will allow anyone to enroll in order to get update their Android devices to the preview and receive over-the-air updates.
