Xbox One Backward Compatibility News: Xbox Head Debunks ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’ Backward Compatibility Release Rumor
Fans that were hoping to see the Xbox One backward compatible "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" this month should not get their hopes up. Xbox head, Phil Spencer, has recently debunked the rumor that "Black Ops 2" is going to be released sometime this month on Xbox One Backward Compatibility.
While speaking to one of the fans through his Twitter account, Spencer said that the release for the much anticipated "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" on Microsoft's Xbox One backward compatibility program is "not true." The Xbox head then continued to note in his later post that he "can't comment on later releases on 3P games."
This isn't actually the first time Spencer has been vocal regarding "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" Xbox One backward compatibility. Last month, a fan urged him to give a comment about the February 2017 list of games, but sadly, he confirmed that "BO2" is not included.
The fans' perseverance to know on whether or not "Black Ops 2" is going to be added to the list is not entirely surprising. According to the report from GameSpot, the title has been the number one most requested game to come out on the Xbox One backward compatibility with over 211,000 fan votes. It is then followed up by the 2011 critically-acclaimed title from Bethesda Softworks, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," with more than 173,000 votes from the community.
Unfortunately, Activision has yet to release any kind of official updates regarding the Xbox One backward compatibility of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2." And at this point, it would be wise for the fans to take all circulating rumors with a tiny pinch of salt, and just wait for further news coming to the developer or Microsoft regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, the popular open-world Rockstar Games franchise installment, "Grand Theft Auto IV," is now playable on Microsoft's Xbox One via its backward compatibility feature. The title was made available earlier this February, as reported by Tech Radar.
