Ridiculous NES Classic Edition Bundles Still Selling Like Hotcakes [VIDEO]
The demand for Nintendo's miniature replica of the original Nintendo Entertainment Console (NES) called the NES Classic Edition, still continues to outweigh the current supply. Despite being launched almost three months ago, the supply for the small $60 console remains the same.
Fans who want to get their hands on the classic gaming system still continue to face the difficulties similar to when the console was first launched. Now, different retailers are apparently taking advantage of the shortage by including the popular console with seemingly useless add-ons.
According to Gamespot, one such bundle is an offer from Walmart, who now sells their stocks of NES Classic Edition consoles along with a 32-inch television set and a second controller for $190. Given the price, the television set, called the ProScan PLDED3290A, isn't really a quality offering as it is only a 720p capable unit. The television itself can actually be bought for $110 outside of the bundle at Walmart.
Despite the arguably unappealing bundle, all stocks of the bundle were immediately sold out right after they were released. The bundle itself reportedly became available once again, but then quickly sold out as well. Even the extra controllers that were in stock were quickly depleted.
Just a few weeks ago, GameStop also came out with its own bundle that made the most out of their remaining NES Classic Edition stocks. The bundles ranged from $80 to $130, which includes extras such as cables, controller extensions, and even a backpack that is able to fit the console along with its accessories.
However, compared to the highly overpriced units available on eBay and Amazon, which ranges from $100 to $150, the bundles from the big name retailers are somewhat of a bargain. Nintendo has mentioned that they had already addressed the shortage problem and are continually producing more units, as per a report from Nintendo Wire. However, it seems like the stocks they are bringing in aren't quite enough.
