Xbox News & Update: New Xbox One, Xbox 360 Games Available Now; More Backwards Compatibility Games Up For Grabs
Xbox's backward compatibility program has deemed useful for Microsoft's gaming console. With that said, the company is releasing another batch of backward compatibility games within this week, plus Xbox Live Gold members can now pick up more free games.
According to GameSpot, "Project Cars" and "Star Wars: Force Unleashed" is now a freebie for Xbox One and Xbox 360. This is a part of the Game with Gold program from Microsoft's Xbox gaming consoles. Take note that "Star Wars: Force Unleashed" plays on the Xbox One through backward compatibility.
The new titles for Xbox replace "Killer Instinct Season 2" and "Monkey Island 2: Special Edition that was free until February 15. In addition, "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime" is now free on Xbox One all month long. Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold members can now take advantage of the Deals With Gold as the gaming console offers discounts on multiple 2K Games titles and more.
Xbox Head Talks More About Backwards Compatibility
In other Xbox news, Daily Star reports that Director of Program Management, Mike Ybarra said that Project Scorpio would have backward compatibility. Ybarra previously stated this at the end of 2016 that the company is looking forward to this feature.
Last year, Xbox Head Phil Spencer also suggested that the team could look at the possibility that original Xbox game titles would have backward compatibility. In addition, Spencer provided details on how backward compatibility would work for Project Scorpio.
Meanwhile, early games added for Xbox' backward compatibility were "Red Dead Redemption", the "Bioshock" franchise, the "Mass Effect" trilogy, and "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." And joining the said games last week were "Hitman: Absolution", "Equally", and "Rage."
If Xbox owners still don't own any backward compatibility games, all gamers have to do is head to the nearest Xbox store and buy or download said games. So, if one is interested in trying out Xbox 360 classic games, but don't own a copy, gamers can still give it a go like everyone else.
