'X-Men' Movie News & Updates: Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey Movie Might Be Next After 'Deadpool 2,' Logan'
A new "X-Men" movie is always something to look forward to, and although it has already a lot of movie franchises under its belt, it seems like the studio is still far from stopping production. Aside from "Deadpool" 2018 movie, reports have been circulating online that a new "X-Men" movie will come after it and will seat a new director. Who could this director be?
According to Collider, writer/producer Simon Kinberg might be the director for the next "X-Men" movie. However, specific details about the said movie are still unknown. Reports have been circulating on the internet that there will be another "X-Men" movie about Josh Boone's "New Mutants" film.
To make things clear, the studio behind "X-Men" movie has yet to comment or release an official statement bearing the details of the next movie franchise, much less who their choice of director will be. However, Simon Kinberg might be one of the top choices since he has reportedly written a screenplay with a storyline centered on Dark Phoenix.
The said "X-Men" movie possibly following "New Mutants" would reportedly be a follow-up to "X-Men: Apocalypse" with an alleged working title of "X-Men: Supernova." The follow-up movie for "X-Men: Apocalypse" will reportedly focus on Jean Grey or Dark Phoenix storyline and might be up for filming this June 2017. According to GameSpot, Simon Kinberg is not new to the franchise as he has been reportedly part of "Deadpool" and "Logan" among others.
The possible plot for "X-Men: Supernova" has teased the fans at the end of "X2." Basically, the plot will unravel Jean Grey's struggle with her power that will eventually transform her into Dark Phoenix and endanger her alter-ego's existence.
Speaking of Jean Grey, the actress who played the young version of the said character in "X-Men: Apocalypse," recently divulged in a red carpet interview that she is about to start shooting the next "X-Men" movie. The "Game Of Thrones" actress didn't really specify the title of the "X-Men" movie she will be working on so fans will have to standby for more details.
