The long-awaited live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog's PlayStation-exclusive franchise, "Uncharted," is one step closer to happening. And its screenwriter, Joe Carnahan, has revealed some exciting details as to what fans can expect in the script.

Carnahan, on his recent talk with Comingsoon, has revealed that the draft for the script of "Uncharted" is already done. But those who have played the PlayStation game and wish to see the film should not expect to see a rated PG-13 action movie.

"The A-Team" director said he wrote the "Uncharted" script just the same way as how Amy Hennig, the writer of the series, did for the PlayStation-exclusive title. "They swear in the game, they're kinda foul-mouthed and I kept all that stuff intact and I definitely didn't write it as a "PG-13" movie," Carnahan added, "I wrote it the way that movie should be written."

To those who are unfamiliar with the "Uncharted" franchise, the story revolves on treasure hunter, Nathan Drake, and his adventure to uncover strange, old relics and lost treasures. While the protagonist's life sounds oddly similar to Indiana Jones, Carnahan noted that Drake is a lot different.

For one, he is a treasure hunter whereas Indiana Jones, who was played by Harrison Ford in the films, is an archaeologist. Secondly, Drake does not trust the people behind the institutions that keep the discovered treasures, mainly the Louvre and The Met, saying they are all thieves, according to Carnahan. The project to show a live-action adaptation of "Uncharted" was first announced by Sony in 2008, Comicbook reported. The film has been in development limbo until recently.

"Stranger Things" director and producer, Shawn Levy, has been tapped by Sony Pictures to helm the "Uncharted" movie, Deadline reported on October 2016. No official word yet on when the much awaited film adaptation will come out in theaters, but it was revealed that filming should being sometime early 2017.
