'Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor' Sequel 'Shadow of War' Details, Features, Gameplay and Release Date Leaked Online [VIDEO]
Monolith Productions has been keeping a tight lid on the development status of the highly awaited new sequel to its epic 2014 open world action-adventure video game, "Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor." However, a new leak has now just confirmed that the sequel, called "Middle-earth: Shadow of War," is indeed in the works and that it may be coming sooner than expected.
Before the leak was uncovered, not a lot was actually known about the highly anticipated follow up. No one even knew what it was going to be called, let alone know details about its gameplay and setting. The leak itself, which is a listing of "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, was first spotted on Target's international website.
According to GameSpot, the "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" listing was first spotted by a NeoGAF user named DeathByBacklog, who immediately brought his discovery to the attention of fans of the original game. The listing itself showcases two separate box arts that show the original game's main character, Talion. It also contains a brief description of the game, which does give away some of its new features.
As described in the listing on Target's website, the upcoming "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" sequel will now allow players to forge armies, which they can use to conquer Fortresses and encampments. The sequel also brings back the highly-praised "Nemesis System" that allows for dynamic stories to be generated with each enemy and follower the player interacts with within the game.
The description also hints at a possible new battle with the Dark Lord Sauron as well as the ability to fight against his Ringwraiths. Additionally, the description found on the Gold Edition of the "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" also reveals that players will be able to forge a new Ring of Power that can be used to dominate all of Mordor.
There is currently no PC version that is listed on the website, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be one that will be released. "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" is revealed to have an Aug. 22 release date on the website. However, dates on retailer listings aren't usually that accurate, which means that fans would likely have to wait for an official announcement from the game's developers.
