CBS' "NCIS: Los Angeles" has recently paid tribute to the late Miguel Ferrer. The tribute was aired on the episode titled as "Old Tricks" that premiered on the network on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

Ferrer, who played as Owen Granger on "NCIS: Los Angeles" since 2012, passed away on Jan. 19 due to cancer, Deadline reported. The actor first appeared on the show's third season as Granger in a recurring role. He became a part of the main cast starting Season 5.

The last time that fans saw Ferrer as Granger in "NCIS: Los Angeles" was at Season 8 Episode 15 titled as "Payback," according to Cinemablend. On that episode, Granger was stabbed and hospitalized during a mole hunt operation storyline.

In "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 16, Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) discovered that Granger left the hospital. The nurse who is in charge of checking him told Hetty that he was gone. Further noting that Granger pulled out his IV and just walked out without telling anyone. He did, however, left a note for Hetty.

"Don't blame the doctors or the nurses, but I've had enough of hospitals for one life and I have some unfinished business to take care of. I have no idea what you're going to tell everyone, but I'm sure you'll think of something. You always do. Be safe," Granger wrote in the note he left in "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 16.

Hetty, after reading the note, then proceeds to the elevator while the Bob Dylan classic "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" was played in the background. This version, as reported by TV Line, was sung by Ferrer and his band, the Jenerators.

The "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15 closed off with a tribute card for Ferrer. The special tribute was later posted on the show's official Twitter account.
