Donald Trump Jr On His Relationship With The President: 'I Basically Have Zero Contact With Him At This Point'
Donald Trump Jr revealed on Saturday, March 11, at the Dallas GOP fundraiser that he has had no contact with his father since the latter was sworn into office. "I basically have zero contact with him at this point", the 39-year old businessman and former reality TV personality said to his audience.
Donald Trump Jr was invited by Doug Deason to speak at the said event. Deason served as a trustee of President Trump's finance team. The fundraiser was Trump Jr's first political event since the inauguration.
In a report made by NBC News, the president's eldest son admitted that despite the pressures of his new business role, he finds it hard to leave politics behind. "I thought I was out of politics after election day and would get back to my regular life and my family, but I couldn't" he was quoted saying. Donald Trump Jr played key roles in both his father's campaign and transition.
In January, before Donald Trump took the oath of office, Donald Trump Jr and his younger brother Eric were given complete and total control over their father's business empire to avoid conflicts of interest, as reported by BBC News. The family-owned company is involved in several lines of businesses such as hotels, golf resorts and casinos to name a few. The involvement of President Trump's three eldest children in his administration has caused alarm in the past. Donald, Eric, and Ivanka were all present during the transition and sat in on meetings with the foreign heads of state.
While Donald Trump Jr claims of having zero contact with the president, the case is not the same with his sister. Ivanka Trump seems to have a close relationship with their father at the moment. Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, has just recently moved to Washngton, D.C. Kushner was appointed Senior White House Adviser to Donald Trump, as reported by The New York Times.
