‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Update: Captain Phasma to Return with ‘Killer’ New Weapon, Bigger Role to be Featured [VIDEO]
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was a huge box-office hit when it was released back in 2015. However, there were some let downs for more die-hard fans that had high expectations. One such example is the dismal role that befell "The Game Thrones" star Gwendoline Christie and her character Captain Phasma.
In the promotion and marketing materials released prior to the premiere of the last "Star Wars" movie, Christie's character was being portrayed as a bad ass Stormtrooper leader that the main characters had to fight off. However, a lot of fans were extremely disappointed when Captain Phasma was barely featured and only has a few scenes. Additionally, the character was also quickly discarded as she was thrown into the Starkiller's trash compacter.
Fortunately, a report from Express UK has now revealed that Captain Phasma may be getting a bigger role in the upcoming new installment, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." According to the report, the Stormtrooper commander may even be coming with a brand new weapon, which she might be using against Finn, played by John Boyega, and his companions.
A separate report from Screen Rant also reveals that new rumors are claiming that Finn may be facing a new "executioner Stormtrooper." It wouldn't be really far off to assume that the Stormtrooper could be Captain Phasma fully clad in new armor and a new weapon.
Sources close to the production of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" described Captain Phasma's new gear to include a spear-shaped weapon that looks absolutely "killer." There were no further details regarding the aforementioned weapon, but it was mentioned to be a staff-like weapon.
Aside from the weapon, Captain Phasma was also reportedly featured in the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" teaser reel that was shown to Disney Investors just recently. This could also point to Captain Phasma likely appearing in the upcoming movie's first teaser trailer, which is expected to drop sometime next month.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 15. The movie will see the return of the previous movie's cast members along with some new characters and villains.
