Song Joong Ki Awarded In 29th Korea Producer Awards: 'City Hunter' Actor Thanked Song Hye-kyo During Acceptance Speech
Song Joong-ki, who was praised for his role in the "Descendants of the Sun," was recognized for his performance in the 29th Korea Producer Awards last March 17. Playing as Captain Yoo Shi-jin in DOTS, the Korean actor thanked and praised his lovely leading lady Song Hye-kyo, who played as Dr. Kang Mo-yeon in the drama.
According to IBT, Song Joong-ki thanked Kim Eun-sook and Kim Won-seok who were responsible for the wonderful writings used in the "Descendants of the Sun." The writers, along with the producers, were commended as they made such an incredible drama that was remembered by fans despite ending a year ago. DOTS was released in Feb. 24, 2016 but after a year, fans were left inspired by the K-drama.
Meanwhile, Inquisitr cited the "City Hunter" actor's acceptance speech, saying: "In Korea, actors always steal the spotlight-compared to the actresses. To me, this drama was a big project, as it marked my comeback to the entertainment scene after spending two years in the military. I want to share this glory with my co-star Song Hye-kyo who shared the burden and constantly reassured me and gave me the confidence by being there for me."
Song Joong-ki's co-star also expressed about how special the drama is for her. She said that 2016 started and finished with DOTS and although most people normally ignore a drama after it ends, the "Descendants of the Sun's" case is different; fans remembered it longer than expected.
Aside from the awe-inspiring plot, the chemistry of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo contributed a lot to the success of the story. In fact, most people even assumed that their o-cam sweetness doesn't end off-cam, speculating that the two have a deeper, more meaningful relationship.
"Descendants of the Sun" has not only invaded Korea but also other Asian countries. DOTS was also popular in U.S. and Canada, making Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo well-known.
