Dell XPS 15 (2017) Review, Specs: 15-inch Laptop Meets Power & Portability With GTX 1050
A new semi-gaming laptop has just been unveiled by Texas-based tech manufacturer, Dell. Dubbed as the Dell XPS 15 (2017), the new portable computer comes with the recently unveiled entry-level graphics card from NVIDIA, the GTX 1050.
The new 15-inch laptop Dell XPS 15 (2017), according to Pocket-Lint's review piece, offers a decent gaming experience. And it's all thanks to the latest generation GPU card from NVIDIA, the GTX 1050, which uses the new Pascal architecture. However, another beauty that the laptop has is the latest generation Intel processor chip.
As said on the review, the Dell XPS 15 (2017) runs on the Quad Core Kaby Lake i7-7700HQ. The System on Chip goes perfectly well with the GTX 1050 but it doesn't mean it can run all the current Tripe-A games on max. But gaming is not the only tasks that users can do on the new laptop.
It is also perfect for those who are doing plenty of videos or photo editing on the side. CNET reported that the GTX 1050 GPU on Dell XPS 15 (2017) has greatly improved battery optimization compared to its past iterations. It is still, unfortunately, inferior when compared to the powerful GTX 980M, which is the GPU card specifically used by laptops mainly for gaming.
Other specifications for the Dell XPS 15 (2017) include a screen capable of producing either Full HD 1080p display resolution or 4K. It also comes with a Windows 10 Home operating system right out of the box, as said on Droid Report. Its Random Access Memory (RAM) is at 16 GB when taken out of the box but it can be upgraded to the maximum 32 GB. As for the built-in storage capacity, the laptop sports 512 GB of Solid State Drive (SSD) memory, which can be expanded to 1 TB (terabyte).
Prices for the Dell XPS 15 (2017) start at $1,250 for the GTX 1050 GPU variant - presumably the Full HD 1080p model. However, those who'd like the 4K UHD variant would need to squeeze out $2,550.
