Mel B's ongoing feud with husband turns into blown-up controversy after filing for divorce
Spice Girls songstress and America's Got Talent judge Mel B (real name Melanie Brown) filed for divorce recently informing the court that she and husband film director Stephen Belafonte had separated on December 28, 2016.
The 41-year-old singer cited "irreconcilable differences" and asked for joint legal and physical custody of their 6-year-old daughter Madison Brown Belafonte.
Mel B and Stephen got married in June 2007 in Las Vegas after five months of dating, according to Eonline report.
The two have been denying about their split in recent years even as rumors spread that Stephen was having an affair with another woman.
He was spotted with a woman in a restaurant in Manhattan's Meatpacking District in January.
A photo of him showing he put his arms around the waist of the mystery woman later appeared online after post of a stranger netizen.
The singer in her petition accused Stephen of "physical and emotional" abuse.
Stephen is Mel's second husband. She was first married to dancer Jimmy Gulzar whom she had split with in 2000.
With Jimmy, she bore a child Phoenix, who is now 18. In between Jimmy and Stephen, Mel had a relationship with Eddie Murphy with whom she bore Angel, 10.
The split and feud as well as the high-end romance of two have been hogging headlines.
In 2014, Mel spent £1 million for Stephen's birthday in Virginia Lake.
The sourest note of their feud was the report that Stephen was planning to drag their nanny he allegedly got pregnant to be a witness against Mel.
It appeared that Mel, who is richer than Stephen, had her patience snapped being pissed off by news about them and as she wished for peace, she reportedly offered Stephen a private island and £5 million for settlement and for him to comply with the gagging order that comes with the settlement.
Despite the divorce petition, a running feud turning into another blown-up controversy centered on the alleged sex tapes of Mel B and Stephen that he and her nanny Lorraine Gilles had accordingly kept.
Stephen denied it and said that Mel was just making a high fiction drama on her revenge porn allegation.
