Normani Kordei Shares Horrors of Bullying She Received During Dancing With The Stars
The Dancing With The Stars competition is currently in full swing, and with only a few dances left before the winner is announced, the contestants are pulling out all the stops.
Amid a gladiator themed dance and a fierce foxtrot, the star moment of the night came from the young Fifth Harmony performer, Normani Kordei. Performing early on in the show, Kordei revealed in her intro package that she was the victim of horrific bullying that had tormented her.
"I did an interview that was taken out of context completely," Kordei explained, "and there were images, people were calling me the n-word." Kordei went on to elaborate that "they actually made images of me being whipped, beaten, hung." Despite the emotional package, Kordei went on to deliver yet another perfect dance that earned her straight 10s from the judges.
Kordei received rave reviews from the judges for her performance.
"I can't even sit down," Judge Julianne Hough declared adding that she was completely mesmerized during the dance. Len Goodman said that he, along with the audience, was "spellbound" by her performance. Kordei is currently the favorite to win the entire competition.
Kordei rose to fame in the girl group, Fifth Harmony, which was put together by producers during season two of The X Factor. After being cut from the competition along with Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke, and Lauren Jauregui, the five young singers were given another chance. While the group finished third in the competition overall, they were signed to a record label and started producing hit songs such as BO$ and Worth It.
The group made headlines recently when one of their members, Camila Cabello, announced that she would be leaving the group to go on a solo career. Since then the remaining members have stuck together and continued touring and making music.
