Miley Cyrus Reveals That Katy Perry Hit 'I Kissed A Girl' is About Her
For those wondering who music icon, Katy Perry, was talking about in her hit single I Kissed A Girl, the mystery is solved and the case has been closed.
In a Vanity Fair article, Miley Cyrus revealed that she is the girl behind the track that helped catapult Perry to further stardom.
"When [Perry] came out with 'I Kissed a Girl,' I was doing the Hannah Montana movie, and I heard her on the radio," the Wrecking Ball singer explained. "They said, 'Who did you write that about?' She said me! I screamed and started freaking out, and then she asked me to go to the VMAs with her. That's when I started doing my whole VMA controversy. I was like, 'I'll go with Katy Perry!' So that's how we met and we just stayed friends."
Perry and Cyrus are known to be long time friends. "We were actually just realizing the other day that next year, we'll have been friends for 10 years," Cyrus further explains in the article. "I think that's my friend that I've known the longest. Which is really, really weird."
At the time of its release, the track was seen as quite scandalous. In more recent times, the song is rather tame. Still though, it is satisfying to finally have an answer to the history behind the track.
