Ice Cube Still Set To Appear On Real Time With Bill Maher Despite Racial Slur Controversy
Last week, Bill Maher said the n-word on his show, Real Time with Bill Maher, which put him in a lot of hot water. Despite the controversy he caused, Ice Cube confirmed that he is still going to appear in the show's next episode this Friday.
Fans were enraged with the HBO talk show host since he used the racial slur. However, in this upcoming episode, he is expected to explain himself.
Ice Cube will be appearing on the show to discuss the release of the Death Certificate: 25th Anniversary edition album. Although, his presence, as a black man, is likely to cause uneasy tension for Maher.
Many are pointing out the irony behind having Ice Cube as a guest due to the message his album promotes, which is awareness on police brutality starting from the Rodney King beating in 1991.
"I'm a house n----r," Maher replied when asked if he would do fieldwork by guest, Senator Ben Sasse. Since then, the comments have gone viral and a lot of hate was brought upon Maher.
Responses to the talk show's comment have been immensely negative to a point that celebrities have come out and shared their rage.
Chance The Rapper is the biggest name to come forward and he shared his thoughts on Twitter.
"Please @HBO Do Not Air Another Episode Of Real Time With Bill Maher," the 24-year-old rapper said in a tweet.
Real Time With Bill Maher airs Friday nights on HBO at 10 p.m. Ice Cube's appearance on Maher's show had been scheduled prior to the controversial episode.
While fans were speculating if Ice Cube would cancel his appearance in the wake of the controversy, sources from TMZ shared that he chose to appear so he could discuss the slur with Maher.
