'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' Trailer [Video]
After years of clamoring by devoted fans, the sequel to the 2004 hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is finally set to hit theatres in December with the release of the trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
The entire original cast, including Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate return for the follow-up to origina. Newcomer and Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig also joins the all-star comedy cast, along with other revered comedians such as Jim Carrey and Vince Vaughan as well as Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman and Harrison Ford.
The trailer includes a few laugh-out-loud scenes, including one in which Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) responds to a request to join a 24-hour news channel with the phrase, "I'm going to do the thing that God put Ron Burgundy on this earth to do: Have salon-quality hair and read the news!"
The film is set in the 1980s this time around and Burgundy and the gang sport all the sartorial trappings of that era, including sheepskin coats and shirts with wide collars made for exposing an ample amount of chest hair.
The trailer also reveals that Burgundy has a new love interest played by actress Meagan Good. In once scene, Burgundy visits the family of Good's character and spews hilariously inappropriate stereotypes.
"Which one of you convicts with the longest record can pass me the mashed potatoes," Burgundy says in the scene.
Marketers of the film seemed to be aware of the anticipation for the sequel and released a teaser trailer, which didn't feature any scenes from the film, before releasing the official trailer.
Judging by the trailer, Ferrell and returning director Adam McKay, who co-wrote the film's screenplay, are still as funny as ever.
