Ryan Reynolds Just Became The 'Proud Owner' Of Aviation Gin
Ryan Reynolds is now the owner and the chairman of what he calls "the best tasting gin in the world." The Deadpool star announced his acquisition of an ownership stake in Aviation Gin, joining the likes of George Clooney and Sean "Diddy" Combs as celebrity owners of alcohol brands.
The Best Gin Around
It was love at first sip for the A-list actor.
"About a year ago, I tried Aviation for the first time," Reynolds wrote in an email to Forbes. "Since that day, I've spent my time finding some way to infiltrate the company."
"I did this for one simple reason: It's the best damn gin on the planet," he concluded.
Owned by Davos Brands, Aviation Gin is produced in Portland, Oregon in relatively minimal batches, according to Hollywood Reporter. While it is a distinctly botanical mixture that's quite different from a typical gin, it's considered a smoother option and currently among the highest-rated gin drinks in the world.
Reynolds enjoys drinking gin on the rocks, saying there are a lot of different types of gin, contrary to what some people believe.
"Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of the company," he adds.
Don't expect to see the Deadpool star take a step back and let others take the lead in company activities either. Reynolds is planning to be a significant part of day-to-day operations as well as oversee the creative direction of the Aviation brand.
The company behind the gin is thrilled that the A-list actor is now a part of their brand as well.
"He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin," Davos Brands CEO Andrew T. Chrisomalis says. "Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world's most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world."
In true Reynolds fashion, the actor already went on social media to share news of his latest acquisition with a funny caption.
Celebrities Invest In Alcohol
Celebrities and alcohol may not be always the winning combination, but recent years have seen plenty of stars dabbling in the liquor business.
Perhaps most notably is Clooney who, along with business partner Rande Gerber, famously sold Casamigos tequila to Diageo for over $700 million in 2017.
Other names in the entertainment industry have been attached to alcohol: Combs and Ciroc vodka, Channing Tatum and Born and Bred Vodka, and Drake and Virginia Black whiskey. Even Real Housewife personality Bethenny Frankel made $100 million selling SkinnyGirl to Beam.
